Video Games and Blood Pressure
Medium
Does playing a video game raise your blood pressure? Many people become alert and focused during gameplay. That mental state may affect the body in measurable ways.
You measure each participant's blood pressure at rest to set a baseline. Then each person plays a video game alone while you record their blood pressure afterward. Next, participants play the same game against each other in pairs.
Compare the solo and competitive blood pressure readings to the baseline to see how gaming intensity affects the body.
Hypothesis
The hypothesis is that playing video games will increase blood pressure.
Method & Materials
You will measure the blood pressure of participants before and after playing video games. You will also measure the blood pressure of participants playing against each other.
You will need video games, a sphygmomanometer, a stethoscope, and a data sheet.

The results of this experiment showed that playing video games can increase blood pressure. The most significant increase was seen when participants were playing against each other.
Why do this project?
This science project is interesting because it shows how playing video games can affect our bodies.
Also Consider
Variations to consider include testing different types of video games and testing different age groups.
