Usage note
- Buck-nig is more than just a word or phrase. It is an entire frame of mind and its exact meaning can be based entirely on the context or accent. The very spelling is only a generally accepted convention, and has been seen as "buk-nig" on occasion. In general it is a negative term, spoken to indicate a degree of negativity. The simplest form is of course, "Buck-nig!", usually uttered after someone is informed of a bad situation. It is important to pronounce correctly, in the sense that the "words" are to be spoken as the distinct sounds "buck" and "nig". The hyphen is only employed to tie the two words together to convey a single word entity similar to "cul-de-sac".
