Ņuņoa


Ņuņoa is a municipality ("comuna") of Chile located in the eastern part of the province of Santiago. It is a mainly residential part of the city of Santiago.

Ņuņoa covers an area of 17 km² and is home to 163,511 people (2.7% of Santiago's population; 2002 census). The municipality's inhabitants are primarily an established middle class, with some residents making up a part of the upper-middle class. The average household income is $47,445 in PPP US dollars (2000).

Ņuņoa boasts bustling public and private sector businesses and a public transportation system capable of reaching all parts of the municipality. Most of Ņuņoa's commercial activity is localized along the Irarrázaval Avenue , a 6-km road crossing the entire municipality's area from east to west. A plan called "Plan Ņuņoa 21" exists to promote sustainable economic development in the municipality.

Ņuņoa prides itself on its important role in social and cultural development in the history of Chile as well as on the opportunity provided to its citizens to live, work, and grow in a clean and prosperous environment.
