The 1954 Atlantic hurricane season was an on going event in the cycle of tropical cyclone formation. It officially began June 1 and ended November 30.

The 1954 season was a busy one for the northeast. Hurricane Carol brushed North Carolina's Outer Banks and made landfall on Long Island as a Category 2. Carol caused over $3 billion in damage. Hurricane Edna did almost the exact same thing that Carol did. She brushed the Outer Banks and made landfall on Cape Cod and then struck Maine, both times as a Category 1. However, the worst storm of the season was Hurricane Hazel. Hazel had weaved her way through the Greater Antilles before striking North Carolina as a Category 4. Hazel caused billions of dollars in damage and killed hundreds throughout the Caribbean. Finally, in December, the second Alice of the season formed...after Christmas. This storm is the latest tropical cyclone ever observed in the Atlantic.
