2 Become 1 was the third single the Spice Girls released and was taken from their debut album, Spice. The song became their 3rd consecutive #1 hit in the United Kingdom and topped the UK charts for three weeks, claiming the Christmas #1 spot of 1996. It is a slow ballad about how the bonding of two lovers can become strong and was unlike their previous songs, which had been uptempo and more dance-based. The video features the five girls in a city with fast moving cars appearing as multi coloured lights appearing in various places around the city, either alone, with one other member or as a quintet. Like the song, the video was also different to their previous ones. It went on to sell 1.07 million copies in Britain, giving the Spice Girls their second and final million seller single.

In America, the song was incredibly popular, peaking at #4 in the Billboard Hot 100, which was only slightly lower than its predecessors "Wannabe" (#1) and "Say You'll Be There" (#3). Due to its long lasting popularity, the release of "Who Do You Think You Are" was cancelled for the US.
