A Face In The Crowd
A Face in the Crowd is a crticially-acclaimed film from controversial director Elia Kazan. It is the story of "Lonesome" Rhoads, a "country" comedian portrayed by Andy Griffith, who has a public persona of a generous and warm buffoon but who off-stage is a cruel and manipulative near-psychopath. Some have suggested that the Rhoads character may have been inspired in part by John Henry Faulk, a country comedian who was long blacklisted as a result of the "Red Scare."
