A story timeline of Another World

Main article: Another World (television series)

  • 1964: Another World debuts on May 4. The first episode deals with the funeral of William Matthews.
  • 1967: Rachel Davis and her mother Ada are introduced.
  • 1968: Steve Frame is introduced.
  • 1969: Rachel becomes pregnant with Steve's child, starting the Steve/Alice/Rachel love triangle. She gives birth to the baby, Jamie, in November.
  • 1971: Steve and Alice marry for the first time. They separate later that year.
  • 1974: On the show's tenth-anniversary hour-long telecast, Steve and Alice marry for the second time.
  • 1975: On January 6, Another World starts airing regularly-scheduled hour-long telecasts. On February 14, Rachel Davis marries Mackenzie Cory.
  • 1979:
  • In the first 90-minute episode, aired on March 6, John Randolph dies after being consumed by a fire Olive Springer had started as an act of revenge.
  • Mac and Rachel divorce. Mac subsequently marries Janice and Rachel becomes involved with Mitch.
  • 1980: Janice is killed by Rachel in St. Croix. Rachel gives birth to a boy, Matthew, who is Mitch's son. She is sent to prison for life for killing Mitch, but he turns up alive.
  • 1983: After years of sometime separation, Mac and Rachel marry in a double ceremony with his son, Sandy and his fiancée, Blaine.
  • 1986: Cass Winthrop and Kathleen McKinnon marry. Cass comes back the next year and reveals that Kathleen died in a plane crash while en route to their honeymoon.
  • 1987: John Hudson, presumed dead in Vietnam, comes back to Bay City. Dawn Rollo arrives to study music, and it is revealed that she has AIDS.
  • 1989: The show's twenty-fifth anniversary is celebrated on a cruise ship with many past faces returning for the tribute. On June 15, the funeral episode for Mac Cory airs. His portrayer, Douglass Watson, died on May 1.
  • 1991: Jake is shot and Marley is believed to be the suspect, as he raped her. Paulina is revealed to be the assailant, but she and Jake continue their love affair anyway.
  • 1993-1994: Constance Ford dies on February 26, 1993, and Ada's funeral episode airs in June. Rachel falls in love with Carl Hutchins. Iris Wheeler shoots Carl and is sent to prison.
  • 1995: Paul Michael Valley's character, Ryan Harrison, is killed off the program.
  • 1996: Ending a serial killer storyline, Alice Barrett's character, Frankie Frame, is killed.
  • 1999: Another World is not renewed; the final episode airs on June 25.
