Abancay
Abancay is a town in the Cuzco department of Peru.
It lies 65 miles W.S.W. of Cuzco, on the River Abancay, where it is spanned by a fine bridge. Rich crops of sugar cane are produced in the district, and the town has extensive sugar refineries. Hemp is also cultivated, and silver is found in the mountains. Population (as of 1875) is 1,200.
