Adolfo Bautista

Adolfo Bautista Herrera (born May 15, 1979) is a Mexican footballer who is currently playing for Chivas de Guadalajara. He is a forward/midfielder who has great vision and technique and he is better known as Bofo.

He made his debut with UAG Tecos on March 7, 1998 at the age of 18. He played with UAG Tecos from 1998-2002 where he scored 15 goals for the team in those four years. His first Primera Division goal was in the Invierno 2000 Mexican tournament against Necaxa on September 17th where Tecos lost of 3-1.

In late 2002, Bofo was transfered to Monarcas Morelia where he scored 8 goals in 21 games and was an important player on the squad. He made a deadly frontline with Chilean footballer Reinaldo Navia where together they packed over 15 goals for the team. He played for Morelia two seasons (Apertura 2002, Clausura 2003) where both seasons the team reached the championship and came in second both. Monarcas Morelia was the club that started launching Bofo's career into success.

In mid 2003, Bofo got transfered to Pachuca where much was expected from him. Coach Victor Manuel Vucetich benched him after personal issues. In 19 games, Bofo scored only one goal against Jaguares de Chiapas, and was struggling. However, in the championship that Pachuca managed to reach that same season, El Bofo came out of his shell and pretty much gave the team the secondnd Championship in its history. In the first leg, when the team was tied 1-1 against Tigres (the best team in Mexico at the moment), Bofo was substituted in and scored a "golazo" that put the team up by one goal. Minutes later, Bofo provoked a penalty kick that put Pachuca up 3-1. After seasons of consecutively getting secondnd place in the season, Bofo led Pachuca to the championship, the first in his career. But with personal issues with the coach and a desire to leave the club, Bofo was wanted by many teams. After a long transfer period, Bofo was transfered to arguably the most popular team in Mexico, Chivas del Guadalajara.

It was then that Bofo's career skyrocketed as he was known all around Mexico for now playing on the most popular team in the nation. In his first season, he scored nine goals in 19 games and was the team's top scorer. And once again, Bofo led his team to the championship for the fourth consecutive year!!! But this time, his team lost in the penalty shoot-out against UNAM Pumas. The next season was one of Bofo's worst in his career only scoring three goals in 19 games. To this day, he still plays with Chivas and is looking to return to his top form.

Bofo has also been called up to the Mexican senior national team and has been capped 18 times (as of March 2005), scoring seven times with El Tri. In la Primera Division in Mexico, he's scored 52 goals from 1998-2005.
