Adrenal insufficiency
In medicine, adrenal insufficiency is the inability of the adrenal gland to produce adequate amounts of cortisol in response to stress.
Causes can include:
- Acute adrenal insufficiency
- Addison's disease (autoimmune adrenalitis)
- Waterhouse-Friderichsen syndrome
- Chronic adrenal insufficiency
