The term aggregation may refer to—

• in economics, any attempt to bypass information asymmetry by systematically amassing information about prices and other features of goods on the market. Shop bots are a commercial example of aggregation in action.
• in biology, the schooling of animals of the same size and body orientation, often cruising in the same direction. The term is applied to fish, birds and insects.
• in computer science, a special form of association in object-oriented programming.
• on the web, aggregation is the process of combining multiple web feeds, such as in a news aggregator.
• in television broadcasting, the merging of several license areas into a single area, allowing competition between broadcasters.
• in content publishing, the ability to combine content from any number of licensed or unlicensed sources into a common venue or distribution channel.

Also in French-speaking countries, the agrégation is the name of higher-level competitive examinations for teachers and professors.
