Agora (monetary)
(Redirected from Agora (currency))
The agora (אגורה, plural agorot) is a denomination of the currency of Israel. The Israeli currency - the New Israeli sheqel (NIS) is divided into 100 agorot.
The Agora was introduced along with the NIS in 1985. It replaced the "new agora", of which there were 100 in the "old" Israeli sheqel (1980-1985).
Coins exist of 5, 10, and 50 agorot.
