Aircraft emergency frequency
The aircraft emergency frequency is a frequency used on the aircraft radio band reserved for emergency communications for aircraft in distress. The nationwide frequency is 121.500 MHz and 143.000 MHz is the backup frequency. This frequency is monitored by ATC towers, FSS services, national ATC centers and other flight and emergency servies. Separate frequencies exist for military and other government emergency frequencies.
