Airtight Garage
The Airtight Garage Of Jerry Cornelius was a lengthy comic strip work by the artist and writer Moebius (real name Jean Giraud). It first appeared in discrete two-to-four page episodes, in French in Metal Hurlant magazine between 1976-1980. Later it was published in English translation in Heavy Metal magazine in the late 1970s. It was published at a time when Michael Moorcock had given permission for his character Jerry Cornelius to be used by any artist or writer who wished to - a sort of early 'open source' brand distribution. There was later some dispute over the character, and the right of use was revoked. Marvel Comics reprinted the series with the name Jerry Cornelius changed to Lewis Carnelian . It was published in the UK as a graphic novel by Titan Books in 1989, in advance of a Sony animated version that was never made.
