Aleksandr Panayotov Aleksandrov
Aleksandr Panayotov Aleksandrov (born December 1, 1951, Omurtag, Bulgaria) is a Bulgarian cosmonaut.
Aleksandrov graduated from Airforce Academy (with a doctorate degree) and reached the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He worked as Deputy Director, Institute of Space Research and the Academy of Science, Bulgaria.
He was selected as a cosmonaut on March 1, 1978, and retired on June 17, 1988.
Aleksandrov was selected as backup for Soyuz 33 and flew as Research Cosmonaut on Soyuz TM-5. Currently he works as a research scientist.
He is married and has one child.
