Alexander ALX 200
The Alexander ALX200 was launched in October 1996 as a low flor replacement for the Alexander Dash, and was designed by John Worker. The styling is completly different with a rounded roof dome (more rounded than the Dash) and deep double-curvature windscreen with plastic moudlings underneath the windscreen to make it look deeper, and large circular headlights and ciculart front indicators, it also has a seperatley mounted destination box. There is a choice of bonded or gasket glazing, and was built on the Dart SLF and Volvo B6LE. The rear end had four sets of circular lights (with one set being at the top). It sold quite well, and buyers included Stagecoach (which includes 90 on B6LE), FirstGroup, Arriva and Newport (which operated some on 8.5m Dart SLF chassis) and many more. However with the formation of Transbus International in 2000 the ALX200 was phased out in favour of the more sucessful (and yet bland looking) Plaxton Pointer in 2001 when production of the Pointer was moved to Falkirk (where Alexanders is based) from Scarborough.--Matthew Forth 2005
