Alfred Mond, 1st Baron Melchett

Alfred Moritz Mond, 1st Baron Melchett (1868 - 1930) was a British industrialist and politician.

Mond was the son of Ludwig Mond. In 1902, he founded the Mond nickel works at Clydach , Wales, the largest in the world at the time. He was Liberal Member of Parliament for Swansea in the period 1910-23 and for Carmarthen in the period 1924-8 before entering the House of Lords as First Baron Melchett. He was Minister of Health in 1922. From his interests came ICI (1926), of which he was the first chairman.
