Algis Budrys

Algis Budrys (born January 9, 1931) is an American Science Fiction Author.

Biography

Algis Budrys was born in Königsberg in Prussia with the name Algirdas Jonas Budrys. He was the son of the consul-general of the Lithuanian government-in-exile. His family emigrated to the USA in 1936, when Budrys was 5 years old.

He was educated at the University of Miami, and later at Columbia University in New York. Beginning in 1952 Budrys worked as editor and manager for some Science-Fiction publishers. Some of his science fiction in the 1950s was published under the pen name "John Sentry", an approximate translation of his Lithuanian name.

Algis Budrys is married and lives with his 4 sons in Illinois.
