Aliant

Aliant Inc. is a communications company providing services in Atlantic Canada. Aliant is Atlantic Canada's largest publicly traded company. Aliant is a post-merger result of merging four telephone companies in New Brunswick(NBTel), Prince Edward Island(Island Tel), Nova Scotia(MTT) and Newfoundland and Labrador(NewTel). The merger happened in 1999 with the shareholders of the four companies exchanging old shares for shares in the new company. The numbers shares each shareholder received were based on the price of each company before the merger.
