Amy Poehler
Amy Poehler (born September 16, 1971 in Burlington, Massachusetts) is an American comedian and actress. She currently stars on Saturday Night Live, where she gives impressions of Sharon Osbourne, Kelly Ripa, Madonna, Avril Lavigne and Michael Jackson. She was promoted from featured player to full cast member during her first season on SNL, and is only the second person (the first is Eddie Murphy) to earn this distinction.
Beginning with the 2004-2005 season, she coanchors Weekend Update with Tina Fey, replacing outgoing cast member Jimmy Fallon. In a TV Guide interview, Fey said that with Poehler coanchoring, there now is "double the sexual tension."
A 1993 Boston College graduate, she has appeared in films such as Mean Girls, Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, and Envy. She also had recurring roles in Arrested Development (opposite real life husband Will Arnett) and the college "dramedy" Undeclared. In the past, she often appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien as Andy Richter's little sister. She was one of the key players on Comedy Central's Upright Citizens Brigade. She is set to appear in Southland Tales in late 2005.
Poehler is married to Will Arnett, of the FOX comedy Arrested Development.
