Plot

Ben Sobol is a psychologist about to get married with a mostly boring life, and unsupportive parents. Paul Vitti, a notorious gangster, who, for the integrity of his job needs to keep his calm starts suffering panic attacks, and realizes he needs psychological help, especially in light of a major mobster meeting due soon.

Because of a haphazard car accident and some exchange of business cards, the two meet and Vitti bosses Sobol to be his full-time psychologist. In the process, Vitti ruins Sobol’s wedding and turns his practice and his life topsy-turvy. In addition, the FBI keep trying to hook Sobol up with microphones to spy on Vitti, which threatens doctor-patient confidentiality, not to say Sobol’s life.

Slowly but surely, Vitti makes progress as he digs into his youth and questions his choice of profession, which ripples the whole mob with surprise and suspicion.
