Andre Reed

Andre Reed (born January 29, 1964 in Allentown, Pennsylvania) is a former professional American football player who played wide receiver for the Buffalo Bills of the NFL. He is widely considered one of the best wide receivers to ever play the game.

Reed holds numerous NFL receiving records, including fourth most all-time NFL receptions (behind only Jerry Rice, Cris Carter and Tim Brown). He also holds the record for sixth most all-time NFL receiving yards.

With the Bills, Reed played in four consecutive Super Bowls in 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994. He was selected to the Pro Bowl seven times.

In the NFL, where he played for 17 years, Reed was known for his durability and toughness. As an NFL receiver, he was a fearless over-the-middle receiver, never afraid to take punishing blows in exchange for receptions and often shaking off tackles for significant after-catch running yards.

Reed began his football career at Allentown's Dieruff High School, where he played quarterback, and then at Pennsylvania's Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, where he was a standout wide receiver who drew the attention of the NFL.

Reed is expected to ultimately enter the NFL's Pro Football Hall of Fame and will become eligible for induction in 2006. Almost all of Reed's NFL receptions were thrown by former Bills quarterback Jim Kelly, who was inducted into the Hall in 2002.
