Andrew Evans
Andrew Evans is an Australian politician and Assemblies of God pastor. The founder of the Family First Party, he was elected to the South Australian Legislative Council on 9 February 2002.
For many years, Evans served as Senior Pastor of Paradise Assembly of God in Adelaide. He was National Superintendent of the Australian Assemblies of God from 1977 to 1997, when he was succeeded by Brian Houston, who changed the title to National President.
Over the years, Evans has attracted some controversy. In May 2002, the B'nai Brith Anti-Defamation Commission called attention to his previous month's attendance of the Adelaide Forum , a conference organised by the Australian Freedom Foundation and supported by the Australian League of Rights.
Evans holds an honorary doctorate in theology, awarded by the South Korean pastor David Yonggi Cho.
