Andrew Murray (tennis player)

Andrew Murray (born 15 May 1987) is a British tennis player, from Dunblane, Scotland.

In 1996, aged 8, he survived the Dunblane Massacre, in which 16 children and their teacher were killed at his primary school. Murray hid in the headmaster's office as the massacre occurred.

In 2004, aged 17, he won the prestigious US Open tennis boy's title. In December he was named the BBC's Young Sports Personality of the Year. He was called up to play in the doubles for Great Britain's Davis Cup team in 2005 against Israel, becoming Britain's youngest ever Davis Cup player, Murray and David Sherwood producing a surprise win over the Israeli double, at the time the World number 8 pairing, who had reached the Wimbledon semi-final in 2003.
