Animation in the United States during the silent era

During the beginnings of the silent film era, the central location of the motion picture industry had not yet relocated to Hollywood. In the period before the major studios relocated to Los Angeles (beginning with Carl Laemmle's consolidation of Universal Pictures), most motion picture studios were located in New York City.
