Anita Page

Anita Page (born August 4, 1910, some sources state her year of birth as 1905) is a American film actress.

Born Anita Pomares in Flushing, New York, Page entered films in 1925, and after a few small but well received parts, was offered a contract with MGM Studios. MGM moulded her into one of their biggest female stars of the silent era, pairing her with such popular actors as Ramon Novarro and William Haines. Her performances in Our Dancing Daughters (1928) opposite Joan Crawford, and Broadway Melody of 1929 (1929) opposite Bessie Love were her greatest successes of the period, and her popularity allowed her to make a smooth transition into talking pictures. In 1931 she was the leading lady to newcomer Clark Gable, and during the early 1930s, she was one of Hollywood's busiest actresses.

In the mid 1930s she was married to songwriter Nacio Herb Brown.

In 1936 she made her final film appearance for sixty years. She returned to the screen in 1996 and has since appeared in several films. Although these were low budget films, they did earn her the distinction of being the only actor of silent movies to be appearing in film, with her most recent film scheduled for release in 2004.

Anita Page has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her contributions to Motion Pictures, at 6116 Hollywood Boulevard.
