Antiga Prime

Antiga Prime is the name of a former Terran Confederacy colony world. The planet is a wasteland, like most Terran (StarCraft), and has at least two moons. The resources of Antiga Prime regenerate over time, making it a rich resource node.

History

The colonists of Antiga Prime tried to rebel against the Terran Confederacy, counting on the aid of the Sons of Korhal terrorists to do so. However Alpha Squadron was dispatched to the planet to prevent the rebellion. The rebel base was put under the command of a Confederate officer, and Alpha Squadron maintained a base nearby to watch over the Antigans.

From their staging area on the second moon, the Sons of Korhal dispatched Sarah Kerrigan to scout the area and report on Confederate movements, while Jim Raynor was sent as military assistance. Together the "terrorists" assassinated the Confederate officer and rescued the Antigans, then led these forces in a successful attack on the Confederates.

Alpha Squadron leader General Edmund Duke was present, but was unable to respond as the Zerg had appeared near the planet and attacked his flagship, the Norad II. The ship crash-landed on Antiga Prime, and Alpha Squadron could not dislodge the Zerg who had landed on the planet from around the derelict vessel. Seeing an opportunity, Sons of Korhal leader Arcturus Mengsk ordered Jim Raynor and Sarah Kerrigan to rescue General Duke. Alpha Squadron actually fought side-by-side with the Sons of Korhal in their first ever joint operation in order to rescue their leader. Mengsk refused to rescue Duke unless he joined his operation, which Duke reluctantly agreed to. This was the the Sons of Korhal's greatest ever victory over the Confederates: the acquisition of an entire Squadron, complete with a general. In a panic, the Confederates sent Delta Squadron to defeat the Sons of Korhal and suppress the rebellion, despite the presence of the Zerg.

However, Mengsk was able to decrypt data disks obtained from an Alpha Squadron installation on Mar Sara and discovered the plans for the psi-emitter. This device used psionic energy, such as that emitted by a Terran Ghost, to attract Zerg over long distances.

Delta Squadron struck hard, immediately putting the Sons of Korhal on the defensive. However, Mengsk ordered Kerrigan to bring the psi-emitter to the Delta Squadron base and activate it. The ploy succeeded, and large numbers of Zerg attacked and destroyed the Delta Squadron base. The Sons of Korhal had to evacuate the planet as the Zerg ran rampant. Eventually the Protoss expeditionary force, tasked to sterilize Zerg infections, arrived. The force exterminated all life on the surface of Antiga Prime.
