Antwaan Randle-El

Antwaan Randle El (born August 17, 1979 in Riverdale, Illinois) is a wide receiver with the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League. Randle El was a quarterback at Indiana University, where he was considered one of the premier offensive threats in the Big Ten Conference and received some consideration for the Heisman Trophy during his senior season, but he was widely regarded as having been handicapped by being one of the few very talented players on what was generally a mediocre team. He was subsequently drafted by the Steelers, who moved him to the receiver position. Together with Hines Ward and Plaxico Burress, he made up part of what was widely regarded as one of the top wide receiver corps in the NFL, although Burress has subsequently left the Steelers. As might be surmised from his name, Randle El is descended from a family with connections to the Black Muslims, although Antwaan is said personally to be a Christian. Randle El was a high school teammate of current Minnesota Vikings linebacker Napoleon Harris.
