Apocalyptica
Apocalyptica is a Finnish music band of three (formerly four) classically educated cellists.
Their speciality, though they also play classical music, is to play distinctly heavy metal music on their cellos. On each of their albums, they have broken down the barriers between classical music and metal further.
They started by playing covers of Metallica, and Sepultura, but once the concept became popular they wrote their own original works, keeping strongly with the heavy metal influences on their album 'Cult'. With 'Reflections' they are starting to come into their own personal style of music now that they have effectively broken down the barriers and any opposition to cello rock.
