Apollodorus
Apollodorus was a popular name in the ancient world.
- Apollodorus, an Athenian painter, flourished at the end of the 5th century BC He is said to have introduced great improvements in perspective and chiaroscuro.
- Apollodorus of Athens, an Athenian grammarian, lived about 140 BC He was a prolific and versatile writer. There is extant under his name a treatise, the Bibliotheke, on the gods and the heroic age, a valuable authority on ancient mythology.
- Apollodorus of Carystus, New Comedy playwright
- Apollodorus of Damascus 2nd century, architect
- Apollodorus of Pergamus , one of the two most prominent teachers of rhetoric in the 1st century BC along with Theodorus of Gadara. His most famous student was Roman emperor Caesar Augustus. Students of Apollodorus were commonly referred to as "Apollodoreans ," while students of Theodorus were known as "Theodoreans ."
