Appel reaction
The Appel reaction is a method to convert alcohols into halogenated compounds. The reagents used are Triphenylphosphine and a haloform (Chloroforme or Bromoforme ). The reaction is based, like nearly all reactions containing phosphines and oxygen compounds (For example the Mitsunobu reaction ), on the eliberation of triphenylphosphine oxide .
