Appellation
An appellation in its broadest sense is a name or designation.
Appellation is also a jurisprudential term (see court of appeal).
Wine
With respect to wine, it refers to a geographical-based term used to identify where the grapes for a wine were grown.

- France: Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée, that goes beyond geography (and wine)
