Area code 819
Area code 819 is an area code for western Québec , including the Québec portion of the nation's capital, Ottawa-Gatineau, Canada. It used to bound 514 Montréal before +1-450- was created and 403 before +1-867- was created to cover the entire Northwest Territories, Yukon and Nunavut.
Before 1997 it extended one-eighth of the way around the world, from the 45th parallel at Beebe Plain/Rock Island, Québec to the North Pole by including much of the Northwest Territories along with most of western Québec except Montréal and its surrounding areas. The Yukon territory and the western portion of the Northwest Territories were originally covered by Alberta area code 403, which now covers only the southern half of Alberta, including Calgary.
