Arkhangelsk Oblast
Arkhangelsk Oblast (Арха́нгельская о́бласть) is a regional subdivision of Russia. It includes Franz Josef Land and Novaya Zemlya island, and also the autonomous district of Nenetsia.
Excluding Nenetsia, Arkhangelsk Oblast has an area of 587,400 km² and a population of 1336539 (2002 All-Russian Population Census).
Arkhangelsk is the administrative center of the region, with a population of around 350,000.
