Armoured fighting vehicle
An armoured fighting vehicle (AFV) is a military vehicle, equipped with protection against hostile attacks and often mounted weapons. Most AFVs are equipped for driving in rugged terrain.

- Infantry fighting vehicle (IFV)

- Anti-tank vehicle

- Anti-aircraft vehicle

- Armoured train
A civilian truck mounting a weapon is sometimes referred to as a technical. A horse-drawn machine gun carrier used in the Russian Civil War was called a tachanka.
