As Slow As Possible

As Slow As Possible is a piano piece composed by John Cage. A typical performance lasts for about 20 minutes.

A group of musicians and philosophers concluded that the piece, when played on an organ as slow as possible, would take 639 years to play. It is currently being played in the St. Burchadi church in Halberstadt, Germany; the performance began on September 5, 2001 with a pause lasting until February 5, 2003. The first chord was played from then until July 5, 2004. The performance is planned to continue until September 4, 2640 .
