Baron Aberconway

Baron Aberconway is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created on 21 June 1911 for Charles Benjamin Bright McLaren, an industrialist and Liberal politician.

Charles Benjamin Bright McLaren was created Baronet McLaren, of Bodnant on 8 August 1902 and elevated to the peerage in 1911. He was succeeded by his eldest son Henry Duncan McLaren, and the latter by his eldest son Charles Melville McLaren. In August 1939, the future 3rd Baron was part of a secret delegation sent to Germany by Lord Halifax to offer Adolf Hitler concessions on the assurance that he would not invade Poland. The 3rd baron died on February 4 2003 and the title passed to his eldest son, Henry Charles McLaren. The heir to the title is Charles Stephen McLaren (born 27 December 1984).
