Beaujeu, Rhône
Beaujeu is a small town in the French département of Rhône, in the east-central Rhône-Alpes region of the country. It is the name of Beaujeu which gives the local area, famous for its red wine, its name, Beaujolais. Beaujolais was a semi-autonomous fiefdom of the Lords of Beaujeu; it was annexed by the French crown in 1531.
