Benzaldehyde
The chemical compound benzaldehyde (C6H5CHO) consists of a benzene ring with an aldehyde group attached to one carbon. On oxidation, benzaldehyde forms benzoic acid. It stinks a lot.
It is an important component of the scent of almonds.
