Beverly Hills High School
Beverly Hills High School (often abbreviated as BHHS) is the only public high school in Beverly Hills, California, just outside Los Angeles. Not surprisingly, considering its location and the fact that a great number of famous Hollywood celebrities have lived in Beverly Hills, BHHS has many alumni who are well-known entertainers, especially those who are the children of other famous people or of people who have worked in the entertainment industry. A list of some of BHHS's famous alumni is below. In addition, many famous people have taught at the school; soap opera actor John Ingle taught the drama and acting program at the school for twenty years.
Beverly Hills High School was founded in 1928. Over 2,000 students currently attend the school. Perhaps surprisingly to some people, who might hold particular images of Beverly Hills (possibly inspired by such sources as the TV show Beverly Hills 90210 and its fictional West Beverly High School), about 35% of the current student body of BHHS was not born in the United States and over half of BHHS students speak a first language other than English. Many of these students are from Iran, or are of Iranian descent; of which most adhere to the Jewish faith. Other groups of BHHS students are from South Korea, Israel, and Russia, as well as from many other countries and language backgrounds. [1]
BHHS has an excellent academic reputation, by both national standards and certainly by the standards of other public high schools in Southern California.
