- Black Hawk (chief) - a Sauk and Fox leader who led a rebelion against the United States federal government in 1832 called the Black Hawk War.
- Antonga Black Hawk - An unrelated Ute Chief that was known to whites as "Black Hawk", a key figure in Utah's Black Hawk War of the 1860s.
The term might also refer to:
- UH-60 Black Hawk - The "Black Hawk Helicopter" that lends its name to the phrase, book, and movie "Black Hawk Down".
- Chicago Black Hawks - a National Hockey League team.
- Also, Black Hawk County, Iowa bears the name of the Indian leader.
- The comic book series Blackhawk, featuring a team of World War II fighter pilots, the Blackhawks; their leader is personally called Blackhawk as well.
