Black Knights

The Black Knights are an underground hip hop group, affiliated with but far-removed from the more popular host group, the Wu-Tang Clan. Although lyrically having more of an east coast style to their sound, the Black Knights hail from California. The group consists of Crisis the Drunken Swordsman, Doc Doom (AKA War God), Monk, and formerly Hollacaust (AKA Dr. Killgrave), who left the group and now goes under the moniker Warcloud. Early on in their career, the Black Knights combined musical talents with another California Wu-Tang affiliate group called North Star (consisting of Christbearer AKA Ice, Meko the Pharoah AKA Minky), thus going under the name Black Knights of the North Star. This unification lasted only for a short period of time, until both groups decided to split as they had been before.

As a unified group, Black Knights of the North Star debuted in the summer of 1998 with two songs on the compilation album, [[RZA]] presents Wu-Tang Killa Bees: The Swarm - Volume 1; those songs were "Punishment" and "Fatal String". Later that winter, Black Knights' Doc Doom and Hollacaust were featured on the songs "Holocaust (Silkworm)" and "Terrorist" (featuring Dom Pachino ), both of which made their way onto RZA's first solo project under his alias, Bobby Digital which was RZA presents Bobby Digital, In Stereo (1998). (NOTE: The last verse given by Hollacaust on "Terrorist" was interestingly cut as he began to rap, with the fast-paced, hectic beat prancing onward for about another 30 seconds. It is uncertain whether this was done for artistic creativity or other reasons unbeknownst to listeners.)

Two years later in 2000, the Black Knights and North Star split into two separate entities, appearing on two songs back-to-back (North Star's "4 Sho Sho" and the Black Knights' "Zip Code") on the soundtrack to the film Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai, which starred Forest Whitaker.

Warcloud (formerly Hollacaust) left the Black Knights for good to embark on a solo career, releasing two albums in 2002, the creative "Nightmares that Surface from the Shallow Sleep" and the eclectic "Smuggling Booze in the Graveyard".

Three years later, the Black Knights released their debut solo, "Every Night is a Black Knight" in 2003, while their former group mates North Star released their self-titled debut under the guidance of Bobby Digital in early 2004. Both parties came together on the latter album to perform the ending song, "Black Knights of the North Star", the mega-group's former name.
