Black talon

"Black Talon" is one of the types of ammunition that was produced by the Winchester arms company in the 1990's. The Black Talon line was available in many of the common calibers including: 9mm, 10mm, 40S&W , 45ACP, 357magnum , 44magnum , and .308 caliber . This ammo became infamous for being one of the earlier types of ammo to exhibit an extreme expansion effect upon impacting soft targets (flesh), and that it was designed specifically to devastate flesh above and beyond the typical hollow point type ammunition already in existence. Coupled with the appearance of the bullet (a star shaped perforation on the black tip), and the new suffix designation by Winchester for the round "SXT" or super-expanding-tip, this particular type of round became legendary amongst shooters, law enforcement, criminals, and dealers as a very effective bullet. Winchester pulled the ammunition from the market completely in 2000 and it's remaining old stock has since become a hot resale item on the internet. PMC currently produces the "Starfire" round in all equivalent calibers, and claims to be as good as the Black Talon, but it enjoys nowhere near the hype-level of the Talon.
