Bob Rivers

Bob Rivers is probably the best-known rock and roll radio DJ in the greater Seattle area, as well as a prolific producer of parody songs that often are mistakenly attributed to "Weird Al" Yankovic.

After 11 years at rock station KISW-FM (99.9), in 2001, Rivers, and the rest of the "Twisted Radio" staff (Spike O'Neill, "Downtown" Joe Bryant, Maura Gallucci, and producer Mike Jones), moved to classic rock station KZOK-FM (102.5). Rivers previously had spent 5 years at WAAF-FM (107.3) in Boston. During a brief stint in between, at Baltimore, Maryland radio station WIYY-FM (97.9), Rivers gained some notoriety for an 11-day, on-air marathon during the 1988 Orioles losing streak.

One of the first parodies he produced was "Breakin' Up Is Hard On You", about the split up of Ma Bell (AT&T), sung to the tune of Neil Sedaka's "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do". It peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 at #69. In 1987 he released "Twisted Christmas", which was certified a gold record by the RIAA. His "Twisted Tunes" can be heard for free on his Web site; CD compilations are also available.
