Bollnäs Municipality

Bollnäs is a Municipality in Gävleborg County, in east central Sweden. The municipality covers an area of 1827.1 km². Of the total population of 26735, 13238 are male, and 13497 are female. The population density of the community is 15 inhabitants per km².

The city of Bollnäs received its privileges in 1942 when the towns of Bollnäs and Björkhamre merged. Today it has a population of 13,490 (1996). Bollnäs is a station along the Northern Railline (Norra Stambanan) but has never served any higher purposes more than as a centre of trade for the surrounding lands.
