Braintree (CDP), Massachusetts
Braintree is located at 42°12'34" North, 70°59'58" West (42.209555, -70.999683).
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 33,698 people, 12,600 households, and 8,883 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 971.0/km² (2,514.3/mi²). There are 12,921 housing units at an average density of 372.3/km² (964.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 94.00% White, 1.16% Black or African American, 0.11% Native American, 3.12% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.64% from other races, and 0.94% from two or more races. 1.17% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 12,600 households out of which 29.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.4% are married couples living together, 11.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.5% are non-families. 24.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.61 and the average family size is 3.16.
In the CDP the population is spread out with 22.5% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 28.9% from 25 to 44, 24.0% from 45 to 64, and 18.1% who are 65 years of age or older.
