Brood (professional wrestling)

The Brood was a stable in the then-WWF (now WWE) that was made up of Gangrel and Christian, and later Edge. Their gimmick was that of a clan of vampires, although they were often merely described by announcers as living a "gothic lifestyle". The group's trademark was giving their opponents a "blood bath", after or before a wrestling match. This "ritual" would consist of the lights in the arena turning off, then the flashing red lights of Gangrel's entrance coming on before the arena lights turned on again to reveal the target of the blood bath being bathed in a red liquid - presumably blood.

At one time they were part of The Undertaker's Ministry of Darkness stable after a brief feud with them, but later broke away. As Edge and Christian found success as a regular tag team, they severed ties with Gangrel and become faces.

New Brood

For a short time, Gangrel would reform the Brood as "The New Brood" with Matt and Jeff Hardy, who were starting their long-running feud with Edge and Christian. After a notable series of matches with Edge and Christian, the Hardy Boyz would leave Gangrel in favor of their new manager Terri Runnels.
