Bucky O'Hare

Bucky O'Hare was originally a graphic novel released in the mid-1980's, before becoming a TV show in 1992. The storyline followed a parallel universe (The Aniverse) set in the 33rd Century. There is a vast war between the incredibly small United Animals Coalition (run by mammals) and the sinister Toad Empire. The Toad Empire is led by a vast computer system known as KOMPLEX, resembling Adolf Hitler in many ways.

Characters

Bucky O'Hare was the Captain of a mammal frigate named The Righteous Indignation. His crew consisted of:

  • Jenny - A Cat from planet Alderbarren, pilot.
  • Bruiser - Berserker Baboon from Beetlegusia, Space Marine
  • Blinky - 2ft tall AFC (Android First Class)
  • Deadeye Duck - A 4-armed duck from Canopis 3, gunner
  • Willy DuWitt - 10 year old human from Earth, enters the Aniverse via a vortex between the ship's photon accelerator and his own accelerator at home, Engineer.

Throughout the 13 TV episodes, the two opposing armies fought one another both physically and psychologically. Few Toad characters were mentioned, but were as follows:

  • Toadborg - A large, purple cyborg controlled by the remains of a toad
  • Air Marshal - 3rd in command under KOMPLEX, with a uniform adorned with medals and a face that is all warts
  • Frix and Frax - Air Marshal's two bumbling twin henchmen
  • Capt. Smata - A Toad Officer with a strong lisp

Other characters included:

  • Al Negator - A crocodile bounty hunter from Reptilia
  • Commander Dogstar - Officer on board the mammal frigate Indefatigable, strong British accent
  • Lt. Wolf - Pilot on Indefatigable
  • Rumblebee - Robotic gunner on Indefatigable in the form of a bee
  • Pete - Engineer on Indefatigable and Rottweiler
  • Digger McSquint - A Short-sighted mole, another engineer on Indefatigable
  • Captain Mimi LaFleur - Officer on The Screaming Mimi frigate, first a resistance leader in the episode, "Home Swampy Home."
  • Larry Callan - Gunner on The Screaming Mimi, a rabbit and former POW
  • Queen Katrina - Leader of the Alderbarrens
  • Felicia - Katrina's young and naive granddaughter
