Buena Vista Distribution
Buena Vista Pictures Distribution, Inc. is a motion picture, television feature and home entertainment distribution company owned by The Walt Disney Company. Buena Vista International is the worldwide equivalent.
It was founded in 1954 as the costs of Walt Disney's animated features being distributed by RKO Radio Pictures were too high for the studio to cope. The name comes from Buena Vista Street, the road along where the current Walt Disney Studios and company headquarters are situated.
The company distribute all features produced by Walt Disney Pictures, Touchstone Pictures, Hollywood Pictures, DisneyToon Studios, Touchstone Television and several small independent companies which employ Buena Vista to distribute their films. A notable exception is Miramax, a company also owned by Disney but with their own distribution company.
Buena Vista also distributes television features such as Desperate Housewives to television stations around the world. The company logo is the Sleeping Beauty Castle.
