Buena Vista Music Group
The Buena Vista Music Group is a collection of affiliated record labels all subsidaries of The Walt Disney Company.
The group includes;
- Flagship label Walt Disney Records which was founded in the 1930s to release records of the music to Mickey Mouse shorts. It now releases soundtracks to movies made by Walt Disney Pictures.
- Hollywood Records is the sister company of Hollywood Pictures. The label originally released soundtracks of Hollywood Pictures films, but has now includes major artists like Queen in its stable.
- Lyric Street Records, a label which specifies in indie and rock music.
- Mammoth Records which usually signs 'Disney Channel kids' such as Hilary Duff and Raven Symone who have previously had success on Disney Channel and ABC programmes. They are known as the new Mickey Mouse Club generation.
and
- Walt Disney Music Publishing which releases much loved music heard in Disney theme parks, such as the IllumiNations celebration at Epcot.
The Chairman of the group is Bob Cavallo, who answers with the President of sister group Buena Vista Motion Pictures Group Nina Jacobson to Alan Braverman, Vice President of Walt Disney.
